January 18-24, 3.5 hours

This week I started a new journey on the current path I have chosen.  I started my internship with the Marketing Department with the Chickasaw Nation Division of Commerce. To say I am excited would be an understatement.  But I also have to admit that I am extremely nervous!  When you start something new (especially at my age!) is easy to doubt yourself.  Doubt your knowledge, doubt your skills, doubt your abilities.  This is the first time in a long time that I have started a job in this position.  The last job I started a job in which I wasn't 100% sure I knew exactly what I needed to do to be successful was many many moons ago!  So many moons that I don't even want to count them. Deep down I know I can do this.  I knew making this change in my life and pursuing a new career wouldn't be easy, but I also know the rewards will be well worth it.

My first day was fairly uneventful.  It started with a round of introductions and a brief meeting with Andrea my supervisor.  I am starting during a time of change for the department and some of the changes are people moving into different offices.  Nick is moving out of the cubicle that I will be using so my space isn't ready for me just yet.  So Kyle set me up at a small table and asked me to review the directions for turning in their addys that were due that day.  After reading the instructions, I made some changes in how the ads were packaged so they were in compliance with the directions and placed them all in the appropriate order.

Once the box was ready to be turned in we proceeded into a meeting with one of their printing suppliers.  They were there to discuss a few current projects and see if there was anything else the team needed pricing on.  It was interesting to sit in on a meeting with printers who supply them with a lot of the same types of products I supply my customers.  Of course, they are a much larger organisation than my little operation in my basement.  The meeting ended and I spent the rest of the morning meeting with Kyle.  He went over a little more detail about some of the things I should expect in the coming weeks.

On a side note, they really should use the crushed ice machine in the kitchen as a recruiting tool.
